Basic Info
Name:pacifist_of_war
Bio
RP Journal for St. Catherine's
Artemis Strathmore
Series: original character; a little taken from Blood+
Professor: Latin
Character Type: Mage
Mage Specialty: Mind magic and elemental. Mainly mind magic, as a vampire she is extremely telekinetic almost to the point of being a seer. She can't see the future or anything like that, rather she is hyperaware of the present.

Age: 19 or so but looks can be deceptive…she’s much older (around 200)
Eyes: Always wears black glasses, so no one can really see, but they are grey, blue when she lets her vampire form unleash.
Hair: Midnight black, short
Looks in general: Artemis once had midnight black long hair, but in a fit of rebellion she had cut it short, and has since left it such. Her sense of style is rather odd, almost an adaptation of Victorian regime wear, such as empire coats and high collared shirts. Once she cut herself off from family she survived by pretending to be a man, and her sense of style seems to be stuck like that. Though she prefers androgynous clothing, she is quite a woman, just slightly butch. She can usually be seen in black or dark slack a collared shirt, and some sort of suit vest with a tie.

Personality: Artemis is rather afraid of her vicious side, as a child she was a tomboy and very competitive. She loved riding horses and hunting, fencing, and generally all male activities. One of the reasons why is that she was an only child, and her father, often treated her like the son he wanted, not the daughter he got. Either way she grew up a fiery wild child as was often the criticism of the other nobility. But when she was turned her personality changed, she became much more cautious, more reserved, but certainly not any less opinionated. Instead of fiery and wild she became cold and scathing.

But her fear of her anger is what drives her to keep icy cold, as a vampire the minute her anger comes out, the demon comes out, and in that sense she had become reserved.

Backstory:
Artemis is very British, accent and all, in fact it’s almost like she was brought up in a completely different era. An era of balls, handsome devils, and beautiful belles, in fact, she was. The reason for why exactly Artemis was born in 1808 in known to no one. No except for the headmistress of course. Artemis was bitten by a Vampire at the age of 18, on her birthday, which was also was her wedding day.

As a woman of noble birth, a Duchess, also an only child, so a rich Duchess, she was expected to marry another wealthy noble. Marius Durnoth, a Duke in his own right to be exact; their marriage would bring two very powerful estates together, two of the richest estates and both families were set on such an act. Not that Artemis herself wished it, her tastes ran a little more unconventional, and by that, she meant women.

Artemis fell in love with a laborer under her family, Artemis refused to call her a servant, and of course as her birthday, and therefore wedding, day drew near she panicked. Caitlyn, her lover, was comforting, promising everything would be alright, and the night of Artemis’ wedding, Caitlyn snuck into the wedding chambers and killed Marius - then she killed Artemis. But instead of simply killing Artemis, she turned her into a vampire. The whole time Caitlyn had been working in the Strathmore household she had been a vampire, trying to fight the demon inside her mind.

Artemis was traumatized by the senseless killing of Marius and left Caitlyn, trying to make her way in the world while learning about her new self and somehow she survived. Artemis always knew she was different, her father had a sword with symbols on the hilt and she used to try and play with it all the time but he would rebuff her, saying that only until she accepted her birthright would she be allowed to use the sword.

When Artemis arrives to St. Catherine’s, if she does at least, she oddly has the sword, but had never pulled it out of the sheathe. It is a rather plain sword, like a dueling rapier, long but not as flexible, like a straight-edged and hilted samurai sword; it’s only decoration is etched symbols on it’s blade. Of course the sword is actually a wand inside the blade and her birthright is a mage. That complicates matters intensely for her…

Backfires of her being a vampire are abundant and weaken her immensely. She can stand in sunlight, but it nearly blinds her, causing her to almost always wear dark, nearly black tinted glasses. It makes her concentration erratic making mage spells next to impossible without the glasses and difficult with them.
